Trump Responds to Haley’s Exit From Race

(NewsInsights.org) – Former President Donald Trump swept Super Tuesday elections, winning in every state except Vermont, where former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley scored a surprise victory. Yet, Haley conceded the race for the Republican nomination for president on Wednesday, March 6, without endorsing her rival. Trump took to Truth Social to respond to the news.

As Haley delivered her speech, terminating her campaign, she congratulated and wished Trump well but stopped short of endorsing him. Instead, she told him and her supporters that it was “now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond” who supported her and others to earn the final delegates he needs to win the GOP nomination officially.

Using Truth Social, Trump responded, saying he had thoroughly “trounced” Haley on Super Tuesday despite the fact that Democrats had supported her in states like Vermont. He thanked his family, supporters, and the Republican party before inviting Haley supporters to join the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement to defeat incumbent President Joe Biden in November.

Many found his invitation notable because as recently as January 24, Trump had used Truth Social to notify Haley fans that he would permanently ban them from the MAGA movement if they continued supporting and donating to her campaign.

Biden also reacted to Haley’s exit from the campaign in a statement Wednesday morning. He said Haley willingly told the truth about Trump regarding “the chaos” constantly surrounding him, his moral ambivalence, and his dangerous habit of fawning before Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Referring to Trump’s January threats, Biden said his political rival clearly didn’t want Haley’s supporters. However, he claimed his campaign could accommodate their viewpoints because he believed they could find common ground on NATO, standing up to adversaries, and preserving American democracy as an institution, according to POLITICO.
