Rebel Wilson Makes Bombshell Admission in Memoir

(NewsInsights.org) – Australian actress and singer Rebel Wilson released her memoir, “Rebel Rising” in the US on Tuesday, April 2, through publisher Simon and Schuster. However, several bombshell admissions in the book have caused affiliate Harper Collins Publishing UK to delay the book’s release in her native Australia and other commonwealth territories as a hedge against potential legal action from someone she named in the chronicle.

Among the explosive revelations in Wilson’s book, she included the fact that agents and producers didn’t want her to lose weight. She claimed her contract for the six-year “Pitch Perfect” arc required that she could neither gain nor lose more than 10 pounds throughout the three movies. Wilson played Fat Amy, a brash, unapologetic, energetic singer with spunk who provided some of the funniest moments in the three movies.

However, the actress claimed that her agents lost “hundreds of thousands of dollars” due to her decision to shed a whopping 36 kilograms, or about 80 pounds, in 2020 during her self-proclaimed “year of health.” In part, Wilson, diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), decided to embark on a healthier regimen to support her dream of becoming a mother.

A fertility specialist recommended weight loss to assist in producing healthier eggs and embryos, and Wilson chose to use a surrogate to carry the pregnancy safely. Fortunately, Wilson and her fiancée, Ramona Agruma, welcomed the birth of their daughter, Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson, in November 2022.

The more sensitive allegations, which caused the delay in the release of her memoir, involve Wilson’s professional relationship with co-star Sasha Baron Cohen. The two worked together on “The Brothers Grimsby,” and Wilson played the girlfriend of Cohen’s character. She claimed that working with Cohen left her feeling “humiliated,” “sexually harassed,” and bullied. Additionally, she said he pushed her to perform nude scenes, a line she refused to cross and asked her to perform a lewd act on him.

Cohen categorically denied mistreating Wilson and her allegations. Cohen’s lawyers have called Wilson’s claims a “cynical commercial ploy to promote her book” with “no basis in reality.” His representatives said that while their client recognizes “the importance of speaking out,” Wilson has made claims that are “demonstrably false” and which he could disprove with “extensive detailed evidence, including […] film footage, and eyewitness accounts.”
