(NewsInsights.org) – In response to President Joe Biden’s January 6-themed campaign speech at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 6, former President Donald Trump unleashed one of his own. The Republican front-runner took aim on Friday at what he called Biden’s “pathetic fearmongering,” telling the audience in Sioux Center, Iowa, that the current administration represents the real threat to democracy.
Trump attacked Biden on several fronts. In his speech, he mentioned “Biden’s record” representing “weakness, incompetence, corruption and failure.” He called the borders with Mexico and Canada essentially “obliterated.” He highlighted the spike in inflation and the ongoing effects. He also lamented the situation with the military, paying particular attention to the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The former president insisted that America had “become an embarrassment” globally because of Biden’s policies and government. He accused the incumbent and the current administration of “weaponizing” the system and elections. He compared himself to Al Capone but said even Scarface received fewer indictments than he had because he’d called an election into question.
Regarding the border, Trump explained his theory of why record numbers of encounters were happening. He told the Iowa crowd that he believed Democrats were allowing immigrants who couldn’t even speak English into the country by the millions so they could sign them up to vote against Republicans. He told the audience that the scenario remained one of his greatest fears.
Trump also criticized Biden in his dealings with the EU and Ukraine. The former president pointed out the disparity between the amount the US contributed to Ukraine’s defense and the EU’s contribution, which he said was 10% of what America had spent. He used the example as just one of the administration’s deals that disadvantaged the US.
Before moving on to other subjects, the GOP frontrunner touched on how the current administration pursued US policies in the Far East much differently than he had as president. Moreover, he noted the effectiveness of his tariffs on China and the trade deals he had negotiated with Japan’s Shinzo Abe to benefit American farmers selling into Japanese markets. Now, Trump said, it seemed the entire world was on the precipice of another world war — this time with nuclear weapons involved.
