(NewsInsights.org) – As Congress enjoys a three-week winter holiday break, Fox News guest hosts, filling in for vacationing regular hosts at “Fox & Friends,” took aim at President Joe Biden and his wife, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. They pointed out several compelling reasons why the First Couple shouldn’t follow their longstanding tradition of ringing in the new year from a beach house in the unincorporated US territory of the Caribbean island of St. Croix.
On Wednesday, December 27, guest hosts Griff Jenkins, Joey Jones, and Carley Shimkus filled in for “Fox & Friends” regular hosts Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, and Ainsley Earhardt during the holiday week. Jenkins announced that the Bidens were planning to ring in the new year in the Virgin Islands, on St. Croix, as they’ve done for years. Yet, he questioned the wisdom and the optics of the move.
Jenkins specifically questioned leaving the White House while the nation faced a set of crises, including tensions in the Middle East, in Israel and Iraq, uncontrolled immigration at the Southern border, and the possibility of impeachment. The guest host challenged the wisdom of flaunting a Caribbean vacation ahead of an election, a luxury that’s out of reach for most Americans.
Jones agreed that presidents deserve time to rest, especially Biden at his advanced age. Still, he pointed out that Biden had already taken more than 400 days in just three years, far more than former President Donald Trump took during his entire term and nearly twice as much as former President Barack Obama took over two terms. Jones also warned the president to “make sure the house isn’t burning before” leaving on vacation.
Shimkus chimed in, saying that while most people can enjoy a more relaxed pace between Christmas and New Year’s, “the president isn’t most people.” Instead, she pointed to a pattern in the POTUS’s behavior. She claimed that Biden went on vacation every year despite some significant event occurring. Last year, a major snowstorm shut down several cities and caused airline delays and travel disruptions for several days into the new year, but the Bidens still left for their New Year’s tradition.
Shimkus described speaking with an Israeli-American citizen recently, a woman who said she believed the president should forego vacations until Hamas has freed every American hostage. While Shimkus thought that was a marvelous idea, none of the guest hosts had any faith the president would commit to it.
Instead, they agreed that he would likely face an active impeachment inquiry in the new year and could face impeachment charges in the House.
